China's top court held a symposium on foreign-related commercial cases on April 18 in Hangzhou, capital of East China's Zhejiang province.
The meeting brought together the heads of judicial tribunals around the country to discuss foreign-related commercial cases, and was aimed at summarizing the work experience of 2016 and focusing on thorny issues in trial practice.
Liu Guixiang, a member of the Supreme People's Court Judicial Committee, attended the symposium and called for strengthening foreign-related trials and vigorously applying China's opening-up policy.
He said that improving foreign-related trials can better safeguard the Belt and Road Initiative -- a Chinese solution to global economic blues -- and new free trade areas.Liu demanded that people's courts of various levels should speed up modernization of foreign-related commercial adjudication.
New judicial interpretations should be unveiled and service of documents in or from foreign countries should be upgraded, added Liu.
Specialized talents, who have mastered domestic and international laws and have a global vision, should be fostered, according to Liu.
